We’re looking for a hands‑on Technical Lead to join a well‑established Australian digital business operating a large‑scale, high‑traffic technology environment.

This is a highly technical role for someone with strong commercial Golang and AWS experience who enjoys solving complex engineering problems while providing technical leadership to a small team.

You’ll work closely with and provide technical direction to a team of approximately 4–6 engineers, remaining hands‑on with code, architecture and solution design while helping lift engineering standards across the team.

The Role

You’ll work across a modern Golang, AWS and event‑driven/serverless workplace, combining hands‑on software engineering with technical leadership.

You’ll be responsible for:

- Providing technical leadership to a team of 4–6 engineers
- Remaining hands‑on with Golang development
- Leading technical design, architecture and complex problem solving
- Designing and building scalable solutions across AWS
- Conducting code reviews and supporting engineers with technical challenges
- Mentoring and coaching engineers to improve technical capability
- Driving engineering excellence across testing, observability, resilience and shared tooling
- Improving engineering standards and development practices
- Contributing to architecture and solution design across cloud‑native platforms
- Working closely with Product, Engineering and Delivery teams
- Helping remove technical blockers and improve engineering velocity

What We're Looking For:

We’re primarily looking for strong technical credibility. You may currently be a Technical Lead, Lead Engineer, Senior Engineer or Staff Engineer. What matters is that you're an accomplished engineer who can provide direction to others without moving away from hands‑on engineering.

Ideally, you'll bring:

- Strong commercial Golang development experience
- Strong hands‑on AWS experience
- Proven experience designing and building event‑driven and serverless systems in production
- Experience with AWS services such as Lambda, SQS, SNS and EventBridge, or equivalent event‑driven technologies
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, including retries, idempotency, event ordering and failure handling
- Strong experience designing and building microservices
- Experience with observability, distributed tracing, correlation and system resilience
- A strong software engineering and architecture background
- Experience technically leading, mentoring or coaching engineers
- The ability to remain genuinely hands‑on with code
- Strong understanding of testing and CI/CD
- Experience contributing to architecture and technical design decisions
- Strong communication skills and the ability to clearly explain technical trade‑offs.
