We are currently seeking experienced Senior Planners to join a high-performing government planning team on a contract basis. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to major planning and development outcomes across Queensland.
About the Role
As a Senior Planner, you will play a key role in delivering complex planning projects and providing expert planning advice across a range of strategic and statutory planning functions.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assessing development applications on behalf of the Queensland Government through the State Assessment and Referral Agency (SARA).
- Assessing major renewable energy development applications across Queensland.
- Supporting local governments in the development and review of planning schemes and planning instruments to ensure alignment with State planning requirements.
- Providing high-quality planning advice on complex development and policy matters.
- Preparing reports, briefs, recommendations, and stakeholder communications.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
- Strong experience in development assessment, statutory planning, and/or strategic planning.
- Proven ability to lead projects, manage competing priorities, and deliver outcomes within agreed timeframes.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with sound skilled judgement.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the preparation of reports, submissions, and executive briefs.
- Experience working within local government, state government, or a private planning consultancy environment.
- A recognised Planning Degree (essential).
