- Providing support & education to myeloma patients and their carers, in the community
n
- Contributing to educational events, publications and myeloma related advocacy issues

- Based in NSW

- Part time - 4 days (30.4hours) per fortnight

22,000 Australians are living with myeloma. A blood cancer, that up to recently wasn't well known at all. We are looking to engage highly motivated nurses to work with the current NSW Myeloma Support Nurses as we grow our services and team in NSW.

About the role
n
Reporting to the Nursing & Community Programs Lead, you will work collaboratively with a small enthusiastic team. Specific responsibilities include:
n
n
- To provide support and assistance to patients, relatives and carers via our telephone support line (1800 MYELOMA)
n
- Provide support & guidance to NSW Information and Support Groups
n
- Help organise, plan and present patient & carer workshops and seminars within NSW
n
- Participate in educational events for patients and carers in metropolitan and regional centres
n
- Deliver myeloma related education to health professionals within NSW
n
n
About the position
n
n
- Four days per fortnight (some flexibility with days)
n
- Ideal position to complement a part time clinical position
n
- Work with experienced myeloma support nurses locally and interstate
n

Your experience and skills
n
n
- A registered nurse with at least five years' experience in haematology/oncology
n
- A minimum of 3-4 years specialised haematology/oncology experience within your clinical background is required
n
- Current AHPRA registration is essential at the time of application
n
- Have a comprehensive understanding of cancer with an interest in haematology
n
- Experience in dealing with patients, carers and health professionals
n
- Have highly developed interpersonal and communication skills and an empathetic nature
n
- Ability to work autonomously and in a small team
n
- Computer skills including use of Microsoft Office and databases
n
