About the role:

The Mechanical and Tyre Technician is responsible for the safe fitting, maintenance, repair, and replacement of tyres across a range of agricultural equipment, vehicles, trailers, trucks, forklifts, and heavy machinery. As the business's dedicated tyre specialist, this role plays a critical part in ensuring the reliability, safety, and operational readiness of our fleet and equipment.

In addition to tyre servicing, the Mechanical & Tyre Technician will support the maintenance team with routine servicing, preventative maintenance, inspections, breakdown support, and basic mechanical repairs. The role contributes to minimising equipment downtime and ensuring the efficient operation of farming activities across the business.

Key operational accountabilities include:

Tyre Fitting and Maintenance

- Fit, remove, rotate, balance, repair and replace tyres on a range of agricultural equipment, vehicles, trailers, trucks, forklifts and heavy machinery.
- Inspect tyres, wheels and rims for wear, damage and safety concerns.
- Conduct puncture repairs, tyre replacements and tyre maintenance in accordance with manufacturer specifications and company procedures.
- Ensure correct tyre pressures are maintained and provide recommendations regarding tyre performance, wear and replacement requirements.
- Monitor tyre condition and proactively identify opportunities to minimise downtime and maximise tyre life.
- Act as the business's dedicated tyre specialist, providing expert advice and support on tyre maintenance, repairs and replacement programs.

Mechanical Maintenance and Equipment Support

- Support the maintenance team with routine servicing, preventative maintenance and equipment inspections.
- Assist with basic mechanical repairs and maintenance across agricultural equipment, vehicles, trailers, trucks, forklifts and other farm machinery.
- Respond to equipment breakdowns and emergency call‑outs as required.
- Assist in diagnosing faults and identifying maintenance issues to minimise operational downtime.
- Contribute to maintaining the reliability, safety and operational readiness of the fleet and equipment.
- Maintain accurate service, maintenance and inspection records.

Workshop Operations

- Maintain a clean, safe and organised workshop and tyre storage area.
- Monitor tyre and workshop inventory levels and report stock requirements.
- Ensure all tools, equipment and machinery are maintained in good working condition.
- Assist with loading, unloading and handling tyres, parts and related equipment.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the workshop and maintenance function.

Safety and Compliance

- Follow all workplace health and safety procedures and safe work practices.
- Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Identify and report hazards, incidents and equipment defects.
- Ensure all work complies with company policies, manufacturer specifications and relevant safety legislation.
- Promote a robust safety culture through safe operation of equipment and adherence to maintenance procedures.





To be successful in this role, you will possess:

- Previous experience as a Mechanical Technician, Tyre Technician, Mechanic, Heavy Vehicle Technician or similar role within an agricultural, automotive, transport or heavy equipment environment.
- Demonstrated experience fitting, repairing, maintaining and replacing tyres across a range of vehicles and machinery.
- Sound knowledge of tyre fitting, balancing, repairs and preventative tyre maintenance practices.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with experience undertaking routine servicing, preventative maintenance and minor mechanical repairs.
- Experience working with agricultural machinery, heavy vehicles, trucks, trailers, forklifts or mobile plant equipment.
- Ability to safely operate tyre fitting and balancing equipment.
- Current Driver Licence.
- Forklift Licence (desirable).
- Certificate II or III in Automotive Tyre Servicing, Mechanical Trade Qualification or equivalent experience.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a maintenance team.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
