Safety & Compliance Officer – Civil / Earthworks

n

Location: Various locations across Sydney | In office & Office Based

n

We are seeking an experienced Safety & Compliance Officer with a strong background in civil construction and earthworks to join our team.

n

This is a hands‐on role suited to someone who understands the day‐to‐day operations of civil and earthworks projects, heavy machinery, operators, subcontractors and site compliance.

n

About the Role

n

Working across various civil and earthworks projects throughout Sydney, you will be responsible for supporting and maintaining our safety, compliance and project documentation systems.

n

The role will involve a combination of site-based and office-based work.

n

Key Responsibilities

n

n
- Manage and maintain WHS and compliance systems across civil and earthworks projects
n
- Conduct regular site inspections, audits and compliance checks
n
- Monitor safety and compliance relating to excavators, dump trucks, water carts, loaders, graders, rollers and other civil plant
n
- Maintain plant and machinery compliance records, inspections and documentation
n
- Coordinate SWMS, JSA/JHA, risk assessments and other safety documentation
n
- Monitor operator qualifications, licences, competencies and required documentation
n
- Manage contractor and subcontractor compliance
n
- Investigate incidents and assist with corrective and preventative actions
n
- Maintain safety, plant and compliance registers
n
- Prepare documentation for project prequalification and client requirements
n
- Upload plant, machinery and company compliance documentation to external project portals
n




- Assist with internal and external audits
n
- Ensure project documentation remains current and compliant
n
- Work closely with project managers, supervisors, operators and management to maintain site compliance
n

About You

n

The ideal candidate will have hands‐on experience within civil construction and/or earthworks and understand how a busy civil site operates.

n

You will have:

n

n
- Proven experience in civil construction / earthworks
n
- Strong understanding of civil plant, heavy machinery and site operations
n
- Previous experience in a safety, compliance or WHS role within the civil industry
n
- Experience working with plant and machinery compliance
n
- Experience with ISO management systems, preferably ISO 45001 and/or ISO 9001
n
- Experience conducting site inspections, audits and risk assessments
n
- Strong knowledge of WHS requirements relevant to civil construction
n
- Experience managing subcontractor and contractor compliance
n
- Strong administration and documentation skills
n
- Excellent attention to detail and organisation
n
- Ability to work between site and office environments
n
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with site crews and management
n

The Right Person

n

We are looking for someone who understands civil and earthworks from the ground up — someone comfortable walking a site, talking with operators and supervisors, checking machinery and documentation, identifying compliance issues and following them through to resolution.

n

This is not purely an office-based compliance position. Civil/earthworks industry experience is highly valued.

n

Salary: $90,000 – $100,000 + super, depending on experience.
