As the Paediatric Haemodialysis Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) you will deliver and evaluate clinical education programs at Kidney Care Centre within Prince of Wales Hospital.
Some of the key functions of your role will be:

- Lead, coordinate, implement and evaluate evidence-based education programs that support the delivery of safe, high-quality paediatric kidney care across the Prince of Wales Hospital Kidney Care Centre and collaborating health services.
- Provide expert clinical leadership in paediatric haemodialysis, continuous kidney replacement therapies (CKRT), home dialysis therapies and specialised renal nursing practice.

As a CNE in SESLHD you will be recognised as a healthcare professional employing your clinical skills and critical thinking in delivering high quality patient care. You will exercise extended autonomy of decision making and professional knowledge and judgement in providing complex care requiring advanced clinical skills.
You will be an integral part of the interdisciplinary team in the provision of person-centred care; and lead, support and supervise other nurses and care roles. You will strive to ensure that the people who receive healthcare experience exceptional care that is person-centred, safe,



high quality and compassionate.

Where you'll be working

Prince of Wales Hospital and Community Health Service is a Level 6 Tertiary Referral Hospital with an inpatient bed base of 370. Each year we care for more than 70,000 patients in our Emergency Department and have around 50,000 admissions to the inpatient units. POWH offers an outpatient service and rural outreach service and provides more than 900,000 occasions of non-admitted patient care each year, including creative virtual models of care. We have transitioned the majority of inpatient units and wards to the Acute Services Building (ASB) including a state of the art Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit. POWH provides an exceptional staff experience and enhanced patient and family outcomes as a result of the provision of person-centred care.

Selection Criteria

- Registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse.
- Current Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122) or equivalent, or willingness to obtain within 12 months of commencement in role.
- Demonstrated extensive and recent clinical experience in paediatric nephrology and paediatric haemodialysis, including management of acute and chronic dialysis patients.
- Sound understanding of teaching, learning and assessment in the health care environment (adult learning principles) and demonstrated ability to apply same in the paediatric haemodialysis and advanced renal therapy setting.
- Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills,



advanced computer skills and use of software programs to develop and deliver education.
- Demonstrated clinical teaching and facilitation skills, including the development of a paediatric dialysis education program.
- Demonstrated knowledge of assessment of practice in a clinical setting.
- Demonstrated commitment to professional development in others and to maintain, improve and broaden knowledge, expertise and competence and capability across a team.
