The 7A team is made up of a core nursing group that have worked together for many years, this enhances stability and the provision of direct clinical education for junior nurses and students. We practice team nursing which in the scenario of a medical ward promotes a learning workplace.

Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH) is Tasmania’s largest hospital and is central to statewide Neurology and Stroke services. RHH provides a statewide service and is an accredited provider for Endovascular Clot Retrieval (ECR). RHH is also the statewide centre for Neurosurgery and vascular surgery, important services with strong links to stroke/neurology management. There are Stroke units at Launceston General Hospital and the North West Regional Hospital that both perform Thrombolysis and post stroke care, however many patients are referred to RHH for ECR and ongoing neurological investigations/care.

As the major clinical teaching and research centre, RHH works closely with the University of Tasmania and other institutions. All our services work closely together to focus on delivering excellence in healthcare to achieve improved outcomes for our consumers, our workforce, and the Tasmanian community.

Ward 7a is currently transitioning from a Medical Sub-Specialties unit to a specialist Neurology/Stroke unit with initially two close observation beds for code strokes, ECR, Thrombolysis and Neurological conditions requiring closer monitoring. The aim is that this will be in place by the end of January 2027 and then working toward a four bedded close observation unit.

The Role

The role is the provision of direct patient care, working as part of a multi-disciplinary team and assisting in the running of the ward as required.

- Current knowledge of, and the ability to apply nursing principles, procedures and practices in the delivery of patient/client care in a designated practice area and in line with legal requirements and the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Board (NMBA) Registered Nurse standards for practice.
- Sound interpersonal and communication skills,



including written skills and the ability to function effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Knowledge of continuous quality improvement (safety and quality) and the application of evidence based practice in the practice setting.

Multiple permanent part time shift worker position, working 64 hours per fortnight - subject to negotiation, commencing as soon as possible .

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

$80,524 to $109,175 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

- Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.

Access to the Grade 4 salary range $102,439- $109,175 is subject to successful application for progression to Grade 4

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

- Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type
