WELD SUPERVISOR – AS2214/AS 1796 CERTIFICATE 10

Renron Victoria is seeking an experienced and suitably qualified Weld Supervisor to support welding quality activities across infrastructure projects in Melbourne.

This is an important site-based position for someone who understands structural steel fabrication and welding, takes pride in maintaining high quality standards and can confidently work with project teams, clients, inspectors and subcontractors.

The successful applicant will report to the Quality Manager and play a key role in ensuring welding activities are completed in accordance with Renron’s quality procedures, applicable standards, project specifications and client requirements.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Weld Supervisor, you will oversee and support project welding quality activities, including the supervision and qualification of welding personnel, welding inspections, documentation, traceability and coordination of non‑destructive testing requirements.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Supervising welding activities from a quality and compliance perspective;
- Ensuring welding is completed in accordance with approved welding procedures, applicable standards and project specifications;
- Reviewing project quality requirements, inspection and test plans, production plans and relevant fabrication documentation;
- Preparing, reviewing and maintaining welding quality documentation;




- Assisting with the preparation and management of welding procedure specifications, procedure qualification records and welder qualifications;
- Coordinating welding inspections, testing and non‑destructive testing activities;
- Completing weld supervision and inspection reports;
- Maintaining material, consumable and weld traceability records;
- Reviewing mill certificates, batch records and supplier documentation;
- Identifying nonconformances and assisting with corrective actions and NCR documentation;
- Assisting with the compilation of manufacturing data records and quality handover packages;
- Liaising professionally with project personnel, client quality representatives, inspectors and subcontractors;
- Following Renron’s quality management system, company procedures and project‑specific requirements; and
- Supporting a safe, organised and quality‑focused work environment.

ABOUT YOU

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

- Demonstrated experience supervising welding activities on structural steel, construction or infrastructure projects;
- Strong working knowledge of AS/NZS 1554 and relevant welding standards;
- Experience with ISO 3834 and Construction Category 3 requirements;
- Experience working with inspection and test plans, welding procedures, welder qualifications and traceability systems;
- The ability to interpret engineering drawings, project specifications, welding procedures and quality documentation;
- Experience coordinating welding inspections and non‑destructive testing activities;
- Experience preparing welding supervision reports,



quality records and manufacturing data record packages;
- Positive written and verbal communication skills;
- Confidence liaising with clients, inspectors, subcontractors and site personnel;
- Strong attention to detail and an organised approach to recordkeeping;
- The ability to identify quality issues and work constructively toward practical solutions;
- A strong commitment to workplace health and safety; and
- The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a project team.

COMPUTER AND ADMINISTRATION SKILLS

The position involves a significant quality documentation component. Applicants should be computer literate and confident using:

- Electronic document management and reporting systems; and
- Company quality procedures, registers, templates and project documentation.

REMUNERATION AND CONDITIONS

This is a casual position operating under applicable EBA and project conditions.

The current indicative remuneration is:

- Between $95.00 & $115.00 per hour base rate including 35% casual loading dependant on applicable project agreement;
- Applicable overtime, allowances and other entitlements in accordance with the relevant EBA and project conditions.

The hourly rate is expected to increase when the pending EBA's become operative. Any increase will be applied in accordance with the final approved EBA terms and commencement date.

Actual working hours, project duration, allowances and site conditions will be discussed with shortlisted applicants.
