About the team

eSafety’s Education, Prevention and Communities (EPaC) Branch oversees the design and delivery of online safety education and prevention programs and strategies.

The branch’s objectives are to raise awareness of online harms and safety strategies, upskill, embed protective behaviours and reduce harms associated with being online.

Programs and strategies are targeted to a wide range of audiences including children, young people, parents and carers, educators, adults most at risk of harm, and older Australians.

The Safer Communities Team delivers targeted programs and projects to support those adults most at risk of online harm. This includes First Nations people, women, those from LGBTIQ+ communities, culturally diverse audiences, adults with cognitive disability and older Australians. The team also works on programs to reach these at-risk audiences through upskilling organisations and those on the frontline, such as the sports sector and athletes.

The team’s support for these audiences aims to be targeted, effective, and up-to-date with emerging technologies and online safety trends.

The team’s role includes building relationships across relevant sectors and communities, ensuring existing and new eSafety resources meet diverse audience needs, and promoting online safety best practice across government and non-governmental organisations.

It also includes leading eSafety’s work under the National Plan to End Violence Against Women and Children, work to explore the gender-based impacts of online abuse, and support for older Australians to get online safely through the Be Connected digital skills program.

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Advisor to lead strategic initiatives and stakeholder engagement to support seniors and vulnerable communities to stay safe online. The role is responsible for ensuring eSafety’s support for these communities is targeted, effective, and keeping pace with emerging technologies and online safety trends.

Key responsibilities include leading major initiatives under the Be Connected digital literacy program, including eSafety’s intergenerational Young Mentors initiative, and ensuring these programs meet the diverse needs of older Australians.

The role also oversees eSafety’s engagement with culturally and linguistically diverse communities,



including managing the contract for in-language translation services to deliver high-quality, accessible resources aligned with best practice.

The key duties of the position include:

- Represent eSafety, engage and manage relationships with key stakeholders from across government and community.
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with peak bodies, community organisations and government partners, and promote online safety best practice across sectors.
- Manage existing and new procurement processes and contracts with suppliers.
- Manage the delivery of multiple in-language resources in line with best practice and adhering to Federal Government Language Services guidelines.
- Manage and respond to public enquiries in relation to eSafety’s work in this space.
- Contribute to the co-ordination of key eSafety projects.
- Produce high quality written work for a variety of audiences including briefings for senior management and government stakeholders.
- Provide advice within the team and across eSafety.
- Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated program outcomes.

Eligibility

To be eligible for employment with eSafety, applicants must be Australian citizens.

The successful applicant must be able to obtain and maintain a Baseline Security Clearance or hold a current security clearance of an appropriate level. More information on the security clearance vetting process is available on the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA) website.

Successful applicants are required to satisfy an employment screening process which may include demonstrating Australian citizenship, satisfactory completion of security and integrity checks and successful completion of a medical assessment.

At eSafety, you’ll be part of a passionate team under the leadership of an independent Commissioner who is supported by the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA). Our eSafety staff are ACMA employees who are subject to the terms and conditions of employment in the ACMA's Enterprise Agreement 2024-2027.

Suitable candidates may be placed in a merit pool from this selection process and the pool may be used to fill similar ongoing or non-ongoing roles.
