Good supervision shouldn't only happen when something has already gone wrong.
This established Newcastle paediatric clinic invests in regular clinical development, with paid supervision every fortnight alongside the day-to-day support available from experienced OTs within the service.
If you're an Occupational Therapist who wants to keep improving clinically rather than simply being handed a caseload and left alone, this environment will suit you.
Support Comes From More Than One Place. You'll have access to:
- Fortnightly supervision
- Occupational Therapists internally
- Regular multidisciplinary team discussions
- Peer case conversations throughout the week
- Psychologists and Speech Pathologists within the service
- $2,000 annual PD budget
- Monthly clinical meetings
- Opportunities to discuss challenging or interesting presentations
There is an open-door approach to questions.
If you want another perspective on a child, you don't need to save every question for your next formal supervision session.
Your Caseload: You'll work with children and adolescents aged approximately 2–18 years across presentations including:
- Autism
- ADHD
- Sensory processing
- Emotional regulation
- Executive functioning
- Fine and gross motor skills
- Self-care
- Independence
- School participation
Most clients present with Level 1 or Level 2 Autism, providing a strong foundation for continuing to develop your paediatric OT skills.
More complex presentations can be introduced depending on your experience and confidence.
A Manageable Mix of Clinic & School Work The week is generally:
50% clinic | 50% school/community
Most community appointments involve schools rather than routine home visits, and travel is generally within approximately 30 minutes of the clinic.
Clinic appointments are usually structured as:
45 minutes with the child + 15 minutes documentation
This provides dedicated time for notes rather than expecting every appointment to run back-to-back.
Why You'll Love This Role
- Supervision Every Fortnight: Dedicated paid clinical development.
- OTs In-House: Access support outside formal supervision.
- $2,000 PD Allowance: Choose additional learning relevant to your goals.
- Multidisciplinary Learning: Develop alongside Psychology and Speech Pathology.
- Regular Case Discussions: Learn from real clinical scenarios.
- Established Team: Join a service with strong clinician retention.
- Structured Caseload: Clinic and local schools rather than constant home visiting.
- Consistent Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00am–4:30pm.
- Opportunity to Develop: Continue building expertise without being expected to know everything already.
Who Would Suit This Role? You need at least one year of Occupational Therapy experience.
- Are early in your paediatric career and want structured development
- Currently feel under-supported
- Want more regular access to experienced OTs
- Value formal supervision rather than ad-hoc check-ins
- Enjoy learning from other disciplines
- Want to build your confidence with paediatric presentations over time
You don't need to be completely independent from day one.
They're looking for someone with a solid foundation who is engaged, receptive to feedback and wants to continue developing.
