Faith Lutheran College, Plainland is seeking enthusiastic and skilled Co-curricular Tutors to join our Arts and Co-curricular team on a casual basis with the ability to teach any of the following instruments:

Guitar

Percussion

Brass

Tutoring lessons take place during the school day from 8:30am to 2:30pm. Which days will be negotiated with the successful candidate.

Located in the heart of the picturesque Lockyer Valley, our beautiful rural campus is just a minute away from the Warrego Highway, making it an easy commute from Brisbane or Toowoomba. The College is entering an exciting phase of growth, with the launch of a new Junior School in 2027. The Junior School will commence with Years 5 and 6 and expand by two year levels each year until reaching Prep.

This growth presents a unique chance for the successful applicant to be part of shaping the College’s co-curricular music offering from the ground up. As the College expands, there is strong potential for this role to grow in scope, including increased tutoring hours and broader involvement in developing performing arts programs across additional year levels.

Key Responsibilities





Deliver high-quality individual or small-group tuition tailored to students’ skill levels and aspirations in their instrumental journey.

Support students in achieving individualised creative goals, which may include preparing for performances, examinations, ensemble participation, or other personalised artistic pursuits.

Develop engaging lesson plans that promote technical skill, creative expression, and confidence.

Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate regularly with families and staff.

Actively contribute to College arts events and co-curricular programs, collaborating with staff to build a vibrant performing arts culture.

Selection Criteria

Demonstrated proficiency in your discipline.

Demonstrated experience teaching instrumental music to school-aged students.

Strong knowledge of technique, theory, and repertoire relevant to your field.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage and motivate students of varying ages and abilities.

Current Blue Card (or ability to obtain one).

Ability to either obtain or provide an Australian Business Number and complete invoicing independently.

Tertiary qualifications in Performing Arts, Music, or Education.

Familiarity with and experience preparing students for relevant examination systems (e.g., AMEB, Trinity, etc.).

Experience in school or educational settings.

Ability to teach one or more of the following additional instruments:

Flute

Saxophone

Trombone.
