Aboutthe role
Anexciting opportunity exists for a motivated and customer-focused governanceprofessional to join the Governance, Integrity, Legal and Risk team as aGovernance Support Officer. Reporting to the Governance Coordinator, thisposition plays an important role in supporting Council's governance functionsand ensuring legislative compliance across the organisation. The role hasbecome available following a vacancy within the team and presents an excellentopportunity to contribute to a broad range of governance activities thatsupport transparent and accountable decision-making across Council.
AsGovernance Support Officer, you will provide administrative and operationalsupport across a diverse range of governance functions, including CouncilMeetings, audit and risk administration, Freedom of Information and InformationPrivacy processes, Councillor support functions,
and citizenship ceremonies.You will be responsible for coordinating key governance documentation,maintaining governance systems and registers, supporting compliance activities,and providing high-quality advice and customer service to internal and externalstakeholders. This role offers a unique opportunity to build your governanceexpertise while contributing to outcomes that strengthen Council's commitmentto good governance, transparency and community service.
Aboutyou
To be successful in this role,you will be a highly organised and detail-oriented qualified with a strongcommitment to customer service, accuracy and continuous improvement. You willhave experience providing administrative support in a governance, compliance,corporate or similar environment and possess well-developed skills in preparingdocumentation, managing competing priorities and maintaining confidentialinformation. You will be confident using a range of business systems andMicrosoft Office applications, with the ability to quickly learn specialisedgovernance platforms and processes. Strong interpersonal and communicationskills are essential, as is the ability to build positive relationships withstakeholders across the organisation and community. Experience supportingmeetings, coordinating events, managing records, or working within a localgovernment or regulated environment will be highly regarded. Most importantly,you will demonstrate a collaborative approach, sound judgement, initiative anda genuine commitment to supporting good governance practices and deliveringhigh-quality outcomes.
You may be required to undertake practical testing,work preference profiling / psychometric testing, functional capacityassessment (physical) or aptitude testing.
The successful candidate will be asked to produce aclear Working with Children Check and will be asked to consent to a nationalpolice check (and where relevant an ‘international criminal history check’),subject to the operation of spent conviction laws.
