About the Role
Gulkula Mining is looking for a reliable and self-motivated Camp Cook to join our small remote mining camp, located approximately 30 kilometres from Nhulunbuy in northeast Arnhem Land.
This is an initial, 3-month fixed-term contract position operating on 7 days on, 7 days off roster, with flights provided from Cairns or Darwin to Gove (Nhulunbuy).
This is primarily a cooking role, preparing meals for a small crew of approximately 10–14 people. You will work independently for much of your roster, so we are looking for someone who enjoys having ownership of their kitchen and can organise their day confidently.
There are also some light camp cleaning and laundry duties as required.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare morning tea and lunch for approximately 12 employees
- Prepare dinner for approximately 12–14 people each evening
- Plan and prepare diverse, nutritious and well-presented meals
- Manage food storage, stock rotation and kitchen supplies
- Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene and kitchen cleanliness
- Complete light laundry and camp cleaning duties as required
- Drive a company 4WD utility into Nhulunbuy when required to collect groceries and fresh supplies
- Work independently and manage your own daily routine around required meal times
About You
We are looking for someone who is practical,
reliable and comfortable working independently in a remote environment.
You will ideally have:
- Previous experience preparing meals for groups
- Confidence planning and preparing a variety of meals
- Good understanding of food handling, storage and hygiene requirements
- Strong organisation and time-management skills
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of the kitchen
- Current Australian driver's licence and confidence driving a 4WD vehicle
- Ability to pass pre-employment and ongoing drug and alcohol screening
Previous remote camp or mining experience is desirable but not essential.
Roster, Pay and Accommodation
- $50 per hour flat rate
- Paid for 12 hours per full day on site
- 7 days on / 7 days off
- Flights provided between Cairns or Darwin and Gove
- Private donga-style accommodation with ensuite
- Meals provided while on site
- Company vehicle available for required work-related travel
- Alcohol-free mine site and camp
