About This Position

An established Australian organisation with a head office in Japan is seeking an experienced Japanese-English bilingual professional to take ownership of its internal controls and governance framework.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director in Australia, you will bring greater structure, consistency and accountability to contracts, policies, approvals and corporate records — while helping ensure that group requirements work as intended in day-to-day Australian operations.

This is a senior, hands-on individual-contributor position with no direct reports, suited to someone who can draw on established knowledge, assess priorities independently and begin adding value from an early stage.

Key Responsibilities

- Translate Japanese head-office policies and requirements into practical, prioritised actions across Finance, HR, IT and Operations

- Lead the ongoing strengthening of J-SOX and internal controls — identifying gaps,



agreeing remediation with the Managing Director and department heads, and following through to implementation

- Improve Delegation of Authority, approval pathways, Board governance records and corporate document registers

- Establish explicit ownership and oversight of contracts, commercial terms, renewal dates and key corporate documents

- Coordinate sustainability reporting information and supporting evidence with relevant teams and advisers

About You

- Professional-level Japanese and English, with a practical understanding of Japanese corporate structures, decision-making and reporting expectations

- Relevant background in internal control, governance, risk, compliance, internal audit, J-SOX/SOX or corporate planning

- Proven ability to bring structure to contracts, policies and approval records

- Confidence engaging with senior management and department heads across cultures

- Unrestricted working rights in Australia
