ABOUT THE ROLE

n

The Air Conditioning & Duct Work Installer – Sheetmetal Trades Worker is responsible for the assembly and installation of sheet metal ductwork and associated components for air conditioning, heating and ventilation systems.

n

The position involves interpreting technical drawings and specifications, measuring and preparing sheet metal, fabricating ductwork components and installing completed ductwork and sheet metal products on construction and commercial sites.

LOCATION

n

The position will be based at Sydney CBD, with work also undertaken at various commercial, industrial and construction sites as required by the business.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

n

n
- Relevant trade qualification such as Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade (Sheet Metal), Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade, relevant Australian equivalent overseas qualification or apprenticeship.
n
- At least one year of relevant experience in sheet metal and ductwork installation, or a closely related trade.
n
- Strong understanding of mechanical services installation practices.
n
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, plans, specifications and ductwork layouts.
n
- Good attention to measurements, dimensions, tolerances and workmanship.
n
- Ability to accurately measure, mark out, cut, shape, form and assemble sheet metal components.
n
- Experience working on commercial construction sites.
n




- Ability to work safely on construction and commercial sites and follow workplace health and safety procedures.
n
- Positive attitude with strong communication and teamwork skills.
n
- Relevant White Card and site-specific safety requirements where applicable.
n

TASK AND RESPONSIBILITIES

n

n
- Study and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, ductwork layouts, specifications and job requirements to determine materials, dimensions and installation requirements.
n
- Select appropriate sheet metal materials and check gauges, dimensions and quantities against drawings and specifications.
n
- Measure, mark and set out sheet metal using templates, gauges, rulers, levels and other measuring instruments.
n
- Fit and assemble sheet metal components using appropriate joining methods including screws, rivets, cleats, sealants and other approved mechanical joining systems.
n
- Assemble and prepare fabricated ductwork and sheet metal components for transportation and installation.
n
- Install ductwork supports, brackets, hangers and associated sheet metal components as required.
n
- Modify, adjust or repair sheet metal ductwork and components where required to achieve correct fit and installation.
n




- Installing sheet metal ductwork, flexible ductwork, A/C units, fans, grilles and mechanical systems.
n
- Assisting with site measurements and installation planning.
n
- Check completed ductwork installations against drawings, specifications and project requirements.
n
- Identify and report defects, incorrect dimensions, damaged components or installation issues to the Site Manager or Project Manager.
n
- Maintain tools, equipment and work areas in a clean, secure and serviceable condition.
n
- Follow all applicable workplace health and safety, site safety and environmental procedures.
n
- Maintaining high safety standards and adhering to company WH&S; policies.
