Hunter New England Local Health District is seeking a Locum ED SRMO for a short Emergency Department block, with shifts generally running 13:00 – 23:00.

This role is ideal for a doctor who wants locum work that can be planned around life outside of medicine, whether that means family commitments, school holidays, travel plans or simply keeping your mornings free.

The seven-shift structure makes it easier to plan ahead, while the evening roster allows you to avoid early starts and maintain more control over your day.
You will support Emergency Department presentations, assist with patient flow, complete clinical documentation and escalate care appropriately when required.

Clinical Environment

You will provide ED SRMO cover within Hunter New England LHD.
The role involves supporting a regional Emergency Department during evening shifts, managing a varied mix of presentations and working collaboratively with medical, nursing and hospital teams.

Patient Demographic

You will support a broad Emergency Department patient mix, including adults, older patients, families, acute medical presentations, trauma, mental health presentations, minor injuries and patients requiring assessment, stabilisation, escalation or ongoing care.

Key Duties

- Assess and manage Emergency Department presentations
- Provide ED SRMO cover across evening shifts




- Support patient flow and clinical decision-making
- Complete clinical documentation and handover
- Escalate care appropriately when required
- Work collaboratively with medical, nursing and hospital teams

Requirements

- Current AHPRA Registration
- Recent Emergency Medicine experience at SRMO level
- Strong clinical judgement and communication skills
- Ability to work safely within scope and escalate appropriately
- Current CV, references and compliance documents as required
