About the role

We are seeking a Dog Grooming Assistant to join the team at Sparkling Dog Grooming in Kings Meadows, Tasmania. This is a casual position offering flexibility and the opportunity to work in a dynamic, animal-focused environment. As a Dog Grooming Assistant, you will support our experienced grooming team in delivering high-quality grooming services whilst ensuring the health, safety and wellbeing of all dogs in our care. This role is essential to maintaining our reputation for excellence in canine grooming and welfare.

Key responsibilities

- Assist experienced groomers with bathing, drying and grooming dogs of various breeds and sizes

- Prepare and maintain grooming stations, ensuring all equipment is clean, sanitised and safely stored

- Handle dogs with care and compassion, prioritising their comfort and safety at all times

- Monitor dogs for signs of health concerns or behavioural issues and report these to senior staff

- Support the reception and check-in process, greeting clients and their dogs in a friendly and professional manner

- Maintain a clean and hygienic working workplace in accordance with health and safety standards

- Assist with scheduling appointments and maintaining client records as required

- Follow all company protocols and animal welfare guidelines to ensure best practice standards

- Genuine passion for animal care and a commitment to canine welfare

- Physical fitness and ability to handle dogs of varying sizes safely

- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high grooming standards

- Excellent communication skills and a friendly, professional demeanour with clients and colleagues





- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and multitask effectively

- Previous experience in dog grooming, veterinary services or animal care is highly desirable

- Reliable, punctual and a positive team player

- Understanding of dog behaviour and handling techniques
