Business Development Manager – Structural Steel & Construction Brisbane | Up to $160K + Super + Vehicle

Are you a well-connected Business Development professional who knows how to get upstream of construction projects before they hit the market?
We’re partnering with a highly regarded Australian structural steel and engineering business looking for an experienced Business Development Manager to help shape its future project pipeline.

This isn’t a traditional sales role focused on chasing tenders, pushing quotes or competing purely on price.
The focus is on relationships, market intelligence and opportunity creation – getting in front of builders, developers, architects, engineers and key decision-makers early enough to influence where opportunities go.
The Role Reporting directly to the General Manager and working closely with the senior estimating and leadership teams, you’ll take ownership of developing high-value opportunities across the construction market.

You will:

- Build strategic relationships with builders, developers, architects, engineers and consultants
- Identify projects and opportunities well before they reach tender
- Develop relationships with existing and prospective clients
- Build and manage a strong, disciplined project pipeline
- Gather market intelligence around upcoming developments and projects
- Understand where clients are heading and position the business accordingly
- Identify key decision-makers and project influencers
- Analyse competitors, market movements and emerging opportunities
- Work closely with estimating, operations, marketing and senior leadership
- Promote the business's engineering, fabrication and technical capabilities
- Help determine where the business competes, who it partners with and which opportunities it pursues
- Build long-term partnerships rather than transactional customer relationships

About you:





We’re looking for someone who understands the Brisbane and wider Queensland construction market and already knows how to navigate it.
You could currently be working within structural steel, construction, engineering, building products or another closely aligned sector.

Ideally, you'll bring:

- Proven Business Development, Sales or Client Relationship experience within construction, structural steel, engineering or a related industry
- An established network across the construction sector
- Robust relationships with builders, developers, architects, engineers and/or consultants
- A good understanding of how major construction projects progress from concept and design through procurement, tender and delivery
- The ability to identify opportunities before they formally hit the market
- Strong commercial awareness and market intelligence
- Confidence engaging with senior stakeholders and decision-makers
- A strategic approach to pipeline and relationship management
- A genuine relationship-led style rather than transactional selling
