The Gem Hotel is seeking friendly Bar Staff to join our team on a casual basis. This is an exciting prospect to work in a Country pub environment in Alberton. As Bar Staff, you will be the face of our establishment, delivering exceptional customer service whilst preparing and serving beverages to our valued guests. This role is essential to creating a welcoming atmosphere and ensuring every customer leaves with a great impression of The Gem Hotel.

Key responsibilities

- Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to customers in accordance with established recipes and standards

- Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system accurately and process payments securely

- Maintain a clean and organised bar area, including regular cleaning of equipment, glassware and surfaces

- Stock and rotate beverages, ensuring adequate inventory levels throughout service

- Provide friendly and attentive customer service, taking orders efficiently and responding to customer enquiries

- Comply with all relevant licensing laws, including responsible service of alcohol requirements

- Follow health and safety procedures and maintain high standards of personal hygiene

- Work collaboratively with other team members to ensure smooth service during busy periods

- Suggest beverages and promotions to customers to enhance their experience

What we're looking for

- Previous experience working in a bar or hospitality environment is essential

- Robust knowledge of popular drinks, cocktails and beer

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage with diverse customers





- Proficiency in operating POS systems and handling cash transactions accurately

- A valid Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certificate or willingness to obtain one

- Ability to work efficiently during peak times whilst maintaining attention to detail

- Physical capability to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weights

- Positive attitude, reliability and flexibility with shift work, including evenings, weekends and public holidays

- Attention to cleanliness and food safety standards
