Rockmount is recruiting on behalf of a family-owned paper and film converting business based in Smithfield, cutting large reels of material down into smaller reels and sheets for their customers. This is a Temp to Perm opportunity — you'll start on assignment through Rockmount, with a genuine pathway to permanent employment with our client. It's steady, air-conditioned, workshop-based work with plenty of variety day to day.

What you'll be doing:

Reading job tickets carefully and following every customer specification
n
Setting up machines by hand and measuring slit widths accurately — some as fine as 9mm
n
Handling job changes throughout the day, switching between materials like foil, plastic film, and printed paper
n
Running "editing" jobs — passing material through the machine to find and remove bad product, taping the good product together and running on
n
Keeping waste to a minimum, as some customers' stock is very expensive
n

What you'll need:

Outstanding attention to detail — comfortable reading job tickets closely and double-checking your own work
n




Positive eyesight for accurate measuring and inspecting (glasses are fine, you'll just need to measure accurately)

Confidence with measuring tools, or a quick learner if you're not there yet
n
A calm, thoughtful approach — someone who doesn't cut corners under pressure
n
Genuinely looking for a long-term position, not just passing through
n

What's on offer:

$34/hr casual to start if you're current to the industry — full training provided
n
Up to $38/hr casual if you've got experience running slitting and/or sheeting machines in paper or a similar industry

Ongoing work with a genuine option to go permanent with the client

Regular weekday hours, Monday to Friday
