We make the clinical and practice management software that over **** Australian Practices run on, used every working day by GPs, Practice Managers, Nurses, Allied Health Providers and Administrative Staff.
We're looking for a Platform Engineer to design, build and run the Azure platform our cloud products sit on, and to run it to a standard a clinician can rely on.
About the role
You'll design the landing zones, the networking, the container platform and the delivery pipelines for our new Azure platform, write all of it as code in Bicep and Terraform, and look after it once customers are running on it.
You'll sit in our Cloud Infrastructure team and work day to day with the product engineering teams who build and deploy onto what you create.
What you'll do
Design and build the Azure platform
Design the Azure foundation: subscriptions and landing zones, identity, networking, storage, compute and the platform services our products depend on
Design and run Azure networking properly.
VNets, subnets, peering, routing, private endpoints and DNS, firewalls, NSGs and egress control, hybrid connectivity
Build and operate the container platform across AKS and Azure Container Apps, and help teams land on the right one
Define the whole thing as code in Bicep and Terraform, and keep the code the source of truth
Build in guardrails using Azure Policy with a Policy as Code approach
Tune the platform for cost, performance and scale, and make the trade-offs visible
Set the foundations
Set the patterns: naming, tagging, environment topology,



subscription strategy, governance policies, secrets and configuration
Build the paved road so product teams can ship without needing you in the room
Automate the path to production
Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps for build, test and deployment across customer-facing and supporting applications
Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration end to end, in whatever language the job calls for
Work with delivery teams on releases so updates, features and fixes ship smoothly and predictably
Keep it running
Own monitoring, alerting, capacity planning and configuration across production and non-production
Build and test backup and disaster recovery, including actual restore testing
Maintain availability, security and compliance across Azure and the external hosting platforms we use, including security hardening
Take part in an on-call and out-of-hours roster with the rest of the team
Work as part of the team
Contribute to end-to-end solution design with architects, analysts and product engineering teams
Explain technical positions to non-technical people well enough that they can make a decision
WHAT YOU BRING
Commercial platform, DevOps or cloud infrastructure experience, typically three years or more
Azure in production across the stack: you've designed and run real workloads, not just consumed them
Strong Azure networking.
Familiarity with hub-and-spoke architecture, VNets, subnets and peering, private endpoints and Private DNS, network security groups,



firewall and egress design, and the ability to debug connectivity when nothing in the portal is red
Infrastructure as code in Bicep, Terraform or ARM, with the version control habits that go with it
Containers and Kubernetes in production, ideally AKS
CI/CD pipeline design and maintenance, ideally Azure DevOps
Scripting and automation as a default reflex, ideally PowerShell
Monitoring, alerting and incident response as everyday practice
Cloud security fundamentals: identity, least privilege, secrets, network boundaries
Highly desirable
You've built a cloud platform from a blank subscription before, and know what you'd do differently
Both Bicep and Terraform, and a view on when each is the right tool
Azure Container Apps, or serverless container platforms more broadly
Azure Landing Zones or the Cloud Adoption Framework applied in anger
Cost management and FinOps practices in Azure
Helm, GitOps, or policy as code
SQL Server platform operations, or another database platform at scale
Medical software, e-health or another regulated field.
Australian primary healthcare experience is a big plus
