Casual OOSH Educator – Responsible PersonBerkeley Vale Public School OOSH is a community-based, not-for-profit Before and After School Care and Vacation Care service located on the grounds of Berkeley Vale Public School.We are seeking an experienced Casual OOSH Educator who is confident and capable of undertaking Responsible Person duties to join our supportive team.This position would suit an experienced educator who enjoys working directly with school-aged children but is also comfortable taking on additional responsibility and providing leadership during shifts when required.As a Responsible Person, you will work alongside our Director, Assistant Director and educator team to support the secure and effective day-to-day operation of the service.
At times, you will be the Responsible Person in day-to-day charge when the Nominated Supervisor is not present.Key ResponsibilitiesSupervising and actively engaging with children in a safe, positive and supportive environmentActing as the Responsible Person in day-to-day charge when requiredSupporting the smooth operation of Before School Care, After School Care and Vacation Care sessionsProviding guidance and support to educators during shiftsEnsuring appropriate supervision and educator-to-child ratios are maintainedSupporting children's wellbeing,



learning and developmentBuilding positive relationships with children, families, staff and the school communityResponding appropriately to incidents, injuries, medical needs and behavioural concernsEnsuring child safe practices, policies and procedures are followedSupporting children with diverse needs and abilitiesCompleting required documentation and communicating important information to service managementAssisting with opening and/or closing procedures when rosteredSupporting compliance with the National Quality Framework, service policies and relevant legislationSkill & ExperienceCurrent NSW Working With Children CheckPrevious experience working in OOSH, early childhood education and care, or a similar children's serviceDemonstrated ability to confidently lead and support a team during a shiftAbility and willingness to undertake Responsible Person dutiesSound understanding of child safety, supervision and duty of careCurrent First Aid, CPR, Asthma and Anaphylaxis qualifications, or willingness to obtainStrong communication, organisation and teamwork skillsAbility to remain calm and make appropriate decisions when managing incidents or challenging situationsReliability, flexibility and a positive approach to working with children and colleagues
