Salary: $70,000 to $78,000 plus superannuation per annumNumber of positions: 2Our client is seeking Fruit Farm Workers to join their farm located in Paddy's Green, Mareeba.Key Duties and Responsibilities:Consistently check irrigation channels to ensure appropriate amounts of water are supplied to trees for growthEnsure soil is adequately fertilized and trees are regularly prunedApply chemicals or pesticides to trees to prevent, growth of weeds, disease, or damage causes by any pests, where necessaryPlant recent trees using relevant tools or machinery, where directed by farm managerAny other duties as directed by farm manager in relation to the care of the trees and soil conditions to improve growthMay assist with harvesting ripe fruits using farming machinery and disposing of any bad fruits, when short-staffed during peak periodsRequirements:Minimum AQF Certificate III or higher qualificationMinimum one (1)



year of experience as a Fruit Farm WorkerPrior experience in assisting with farming limes, lychees and other crops on a large commercial scale across three hundred (300) acres;Knowledge regarding the application of various chemicals required to control weeds, insects, and fungus growth on different crops;Ability to operate line packing machines and supervise the packing process from time to time as directed by Farmer.Ability to perform duties with limited supervision and to required standardKnowledge of pack shed operations and quality assurance highly desirablePrevious experience working in lime orchard highly desirableAbility to operate farm machinery such as forklifts, tractors and sprayers highly regardedMust have own transport and driver's licence.
