4WD Technician / Motor Mechanic – Accessories & Vehicle Systems - Vic n

SMS Personnel is seeking an experienced 4WD Technician / Motor Mechanic for a temporary assignment with a major Australian 4x4 accessories business in Kilsyth. The role combines premium 4WD accessory fitment with hands‑on mechanical work across suspension, differentials, vehicle charging systems and under‑vehicle components.

Job Responsibilities n

n
Fit bull bars, roof racks, canopies, protection equipment, trays and other 4WD accessories.
n
Install and maintain fuel and air filtration systems.
n
Install, diagnose and maintain dual‑battery and vehicle‑charging systems.
n
Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults and complete repairs within your demonstrated competency.
n
Install and diagnose suspension and differential components, including bearings and differential assemblies.
n
Support GVM upgrade and vehicle‑modification work in accordance with the host’s approved certification procedures.
n
Test, adjust and validate mechanical and electrical components after installation or repair.
n
Carry out wheel‑alignment checks and tyre inspections/fitments as required.
n
Maintain secure workshop practices,



complete daily equipment checks and care for workshop tools and assets.
n

Requirements nn
Robust practical automotive mechanical and 4WD accessory‑fitting capability.
n
A motor mechanic trade qualification / Certificate III or recognised equivalent is strongly preferred for candidates undertaking the full mechanic scope.
n
Demonstrated experience with suspension, driveline/differential work and mechanical fault finding.
n
Automotive electrical and dual‑battery/charging‑system experience is highly regarded.
n
Current driver licence.
n
High attention to detail, safe work habits and a commitment to quality workmanship.
n
Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a workshop team.
n
Interest in 4WD vehicles and aftermarket accessories.
n

Compensation & Working Details nn
$46.50 per hour plus super for ordinary weekday hours, with applicable Award penalties/overtime paid where triggered.
n
Kilsyth-based temporary assignment.
n
Diverse work across 4WD accessory fitment and vehicle mechanical systems.
n
Established workshop procedures, products and technical support.
