Based from our new Laverton North (Melbourne) facility, you'll be responsible for overseeing a directional drilling crew, operating drill rigs, and ensuring safe, high-quality project delivery across metro and regional works.Key responsibilitiesLead, mentor and coordinate directional drilling crews on telecommunications and civil infrastructure projectsOperate Vermeer and/or Ditch Witch drilling rigsMaintain accurate bore alignment and trackingUndertake service locating and interpret underground asset informationRead and interpret construction drawings and Dial before You Dig (DBYD) plansEnsure works are completed safely, efficiently, and in line with project specifications, quality standards, and timelinesComplete daily reporting and site documentationManage multiple tasks in a quick-paced environmentEnsure equipment maintenance and readinessLiaise with Supervisors, Project Managers and clientsWork across metro and regional sites and travel as requiredWork varied shifts,



including night works with noticeAbout youProven experience in horizontal directional drilling (HDD) within telecommunications and/or civil construction, including on carrier / Tier 1 projectsHands-on experience operating Vermeer and/or Ditch Witch drilling rigsDemonstrated tracking experience and ability to maintain accurate bore alignmentExperience undertaking service locating and interpreting underground asset informationAbility to read and interpret construction drawings and Dial Before You Dig (DBYD) plansStrong leadership capability, with experience leading crews on siteReliable, proactive, and able to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environmentStrong focus on safety, quality, and accountabilityHR or MR Truck License (HC highly regarded)White Card (Construction Induction)First AidAbout usROC Communications is an established telecommunications and civil infrastructure contractor delivering large-scale fibre, network and utility projects throughout Australia.
