As a Junior Criminal Lawyer, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality criminal legal services to our diverse client base.
You will work alongside experienced practitioners, gaining invaluable exposure to criminal law matters whilst developing your expertise in this specialised field.
This position offers an excellent opportunity to build a robust foundation in criminal practice and contribute meaningfully to the firm's continued success.Key responsibilitiesYour primary duties will include:Assisting in the preparation and conduct of criminal defence matters across various jurisdictions and court levelsConducting legal research and preparing comprehensive case briefs and legal memoranda on criminal law issuesLiaising with clients, police prosecutors and other legal professionals to gather information and advance case strategiesPreparing bail applications, statements of facts, and other legal documents required for criminal proceedingsAttending court hearings, committal proceedings and trials to support senior legal practitionersProviding advice to clients on criminal charges, sentencing implications and available legal optionsManaging case files and maintaining accurate documentation in accordance with firm proceduresConducting legal interviews with clients and witnesses to gather evidence and build case narrativesContributing to the development of effective defence strategies and advocating for clients' interestsKeeping abreast of changes to criminal legislation and case law affecting practice areasWhat we're looking forTo succeed in this role, you should possess:A Bachelor of Laws (LLB)
