Porter Engineering are a fast growing company located in the heart of the Hawkesbury.
We are looking to expand our workforce for a local manufacturer, and seeking 3-4 experienced Mechanical Fitters for an ongoing role.
This is a hands-on role requiring competency for various responsibilities.
Successful candidates will be responsible for breakdown maintenance, call outs, and additional shift coverage, with the expectation of keeping projects running efficiently.
This position is rostered on a casual basis, with potential for full time contracted hours, and paid at an hourly rate (extra hours available if desired).
Key responsibilities:Use of hand tools, power tools and precision measuring instrumentsWorking with mechanical systems and have a solid understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics and general engineering principlesReading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, maintenance manuals and equipment specificationsExcellent problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and troubleshoot equipment issues efficientlyStrong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high safety and quality standardsAbility to work independently whilst also being a collaborative team memberSilo cleaning, general preventive maintenance, and breakdownsAttending callouts and time tracking,



both accurately and in a timely mannerLogging of maintenance on SCADA systemRequirements:Be fit and eligible to work, and hold either an Australian citizenship or working visaBe Hawkesbury based or have a willingness to travel with a commitment to being at work on timeHold a NSW drivers licenseTrade qualifications or equivalent experience as a Fitter, Turner or Machinist, preferably with recognised credentials or apprenticeship completionWhat's on offer:10 hour days paid at a flat ratePenaltiesfor over 10 hours, weekends, nights, and calloutsWork car providedPower tools providedThe ideal candidate will:be available to work a minimum 5 days/week, 10 hours/dayhave previous experience in a manufacturing or production environment or FMCGhave previous experience with MIG and TIG weldinghave previous experience with breakdownshave strong mechanical aptitude and practical skills in the use of hand tools, power tools and precision measuring instrumentshave a strong levels of capability and problem-solving skillsbe able to work independently and as part of a teamhave robust commitment to workplace health and safetyhave a willingness to undertake ongoing professional development and trainingRates apply within.
