To be considered for this chance, this role requires participation in a 24/7 rotating roster including morning, afternoon, and night shifts.The Medical Unit offers a variety of opportunities to care for patients that have specialised care needs across 46 beds.
This includes 20 acute care telemetry beds, oncology, hematology, high flow respiratory and general medicine.The Medical Unit is a supportive team of Nurses, Doctors and Allied Health staff who together care for patients, carers and family whilst they are at Mater hospital.Salary range: $***** - $***** per hour plus superannuation andaccess to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900+access to many staff benefits!
What you'll be doingReporting to the Nurse Unit Manager, our Registered Nurses make up a vital and respected part of the nursing team at Mater.Key duties and responsibilities will include:Delivering and evaluating evidence‐based nursing care within your scope of practiceAdvocating for patients through education, informed consent,



and shared decision‐makingAct as a patient advocate ensuring patients are informed and consent is gained prior to proceduresContribute to the maintenance of an environment which promotes safety, security and personal integrity of individual patients and groupsMaintain and adhere to Infection Control policies and practicesComplies with organisational policies, procedures, work instructions and guidelinesAbout youCurrent AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse (no restrictions)Minimum of 1 post grad experience working within an acute medical settingVisa sponsorship may be considered for exceptional international applicants with demonstrated extensive experience in critical care on a medical ward.Availability to work across a 24/7 rotating roster, including nights and weekendsHigh level skills in problem‐solving, communication, coordination and time managementThe ability to contribute effectively and efficiently within a busy, multidisciplinary team environmentDemonstrated ability to plan and coordinate patient care and competency in clinical problem solvingAvailable to work across all shiftsDemonstrated competency in written and verbal communications and the ability to maintain accurate clinical and assessment dataAll successful candidates may be required to complete pre‐employment checks (including criminal history, working rights, medical and working with children checks).
