Full-Time | $50–$60 per hour base rate + overtime | Modern Heavy Vehicle FleetHornby Transport Services is looking for an experienced Heavy Vehicle Mechanic to join our team at our Unanderra depot.This is a full-time prospect working on a modern and varied fleet, including Kenworth, Western Star and Freightliner trucks, predominantly powered by Cummins engines, along with a range of tipper, flat-top and tautliner trailers.If you enjoy diagnosing faults, solving problems and working with a variety of heavy vehicles, this role offers the opportunity to work both independently and as part of a supportive team.What you'll be doingCarrying out scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance on trucks and trailersDiagnosing and repairing mechanical faults and breakdownsWorking on a variety of heavy vehicle makes and modelsAttending breakdowns onsite and offsite when requiredIdentifying problems and developing practical repair solutionsAccurately recording parts used and work completedWorking safely and maintaining a high standard of workmanshipWorking independently when required while contributing positively to the wider teamWhat we offer$40–$50 per hour base rate, depending on experience and skillsOvertime rates apply after 7.6 ordinary hours per dayFull-time, stable employmentWork on a modern and varied heavy vehicle fleetExposure to Kenworth, Western Star,



Freightliner and Cummins equipmentA combination of independent diagnostic work and teamworkUniforms suppliedThe opportunity to develop your skills across a range of heavy vehicle equipmentAbout youWe're looking for a qualified Heavy Vehicle Mechanic who takes pride in their work and can diagnose and repair faults efficiently.You will ideally have:Heavy Vehicle Mechanic trade qualificationMinimum 3 years' post-trade experienceHR or higher driver's licenceStrong diagnostic and problem-solving skillsGood attention to detail and time managementThe ability to work autonomously and as part of a teamGood written and verbal communication skillsThe ability to accurately record work completed and parts usedA positive, reliable and safety-focused attitudeForklift licence (advantageous, but not essential)Roster and availabilityThe position operates Monday to Friday, with a rostered Saturday and on-call component each week.Availability for rostered on-call duties is a mandatory requirement of the position.
