In this role, you will play a key part in the precision manufacturing process, setting up, programming and operating CNC machinery to produce high-quality components in accordance with engineering specifications.About the roleCurrently located in Chipping Norton, we are moving to Smeaton Grange in the next 3-4 monthsAs a CNC Machinist, you will be responsible for the efficient and accurate operation of 3‐axis CNC machinery, with a focus on Heidenhain controls.
You will work closely with engineers, programmers and other team members to ensure machining processes meet quality, safety and production requirements.Key responsibilitiesSet up and operate 3‐axis CNC machines, including installing tooling, loading workpieces and entering machining parameters and tool offsetsCreate and edit CNC programs using Heidenhain conversational programmingSelect and install appropriate cutting tools for each jobMachine components to precise dimensions, tolerances and surface finishes in accordance with technical drawings and job instructionsConduct in‐process quality inspections using precision measuring equipment such as micrometres and callipersIdentify and troubleshoot machining, tooling, machine and programming issuesPerform routine CNC machine maintenance, including tool changes,



lubrication and cleaningMaintain accurate production, tooling, setup and inspection recordsWork collaboratively with engineers, programmers and team members to improve machining processes and achieve production goalsFollow all workplace health and safety requirements and maintain a strong focus on quality and secure work practicesAbout youTrade qualification or certification in CNC machiningProven experience setting and operating CNC Machining centres.
Heidenhain experience is well regarded but not essential - we'll train the right person on our controlsConfidence reading engineering drawings, including geometric tolerances, and the judgement to stop and ask when something can't be made as drawnStrong understanding of CNC machining principles, including tooling selection, feeds and speeds, and machining strategiesExperience using precision measuring instruments and performing basic mathematical calculationsThe discipline to document your setups so the next machinist can pick up the job coldExperience with low‐volume, high‐mix or one‐off work, where every job is differentA willingness to share what you know and help others get better at itAn uncompromising approach to safety and qualityWhy Join Us?
