The Bus Driver safely transports students to and from school, as well as to and from excursions around the Sydney Area.
The Bus Driver will work with students with behavioural, social, learning difficulties and must work within a supportive workplace where pastoral care/well-being is important for each student.
This will involve working closely with students, parents/carers, fellow staff and the local Aboriginal communities.
Maintaining a professional manner is essential to this role.Key responsibilitiesCollect the children every day and return them home after school, leaving early enough to have all the children at school before 9am (morning shift 7am - 9am).
Return students home or to the after-school program at the end of the day (afternoon shift (3pm - 5pm).
Work out the most effective route when new children enrolManage the bus phone and maintain contact with parents and the school when necessary,



ensuring the phone is mounted on an approved phone holder during the tripContinually communicate with the school administrator to ensure all children's pick up/drop off information is up to dateInteract with the families and children, and deliver messages, hampers and information to familiesReturn the school bus to secure parking space at the end of each shiftAttend to any repairs and maintenance of the busLiaise with the school administrator regarding the yearly registration of the busBe responsible for the fuel card and returning receipts to the officeOrganise the bus to be cleanedHold a current Australian Driver licence and have held it for at least three yearsBe at least 25 years of ageMust be medically fitBe a safe driver and hold a good driving recordMedium Rigid Licence is desirable but not essentialWe strongly encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
