Bowness Stud & Watershed Farm are seeking an experienced and competent Stud Hand to join our team for the busy thoroughbred breeding season, progressing into yearling sales preparation.This is a hands on role suited to someone who is already a confident, capable horse handler and can work safely and competently with broodmares, foals and young thoroughbreds.Duties will includeDaily care, feeding and checking of broodmares, foals and young stockHandling mares and foals during the breeding seasonAssisting with horse movements and breeding proceduresAssisting vets and farriersAdministering treatments and medicationsMonitoring horse health and identifying injuries or concernsHandling and educating foals, weanlings and yearlingsProgressing into yearling sales preparation, including grooming, washing, hand walking,



parade practice and stable dutiesGeneral stud and farm duties as requiredApplicants must haveStrong practical horse handling skillsPrevious experience working with thoroughbreds, breeding stock or young horsesConfidence handling young and sometimes difficult horsesGood knowledge of general horse care and healthThe ability to work independently as well as part of a teamA reliable, hardworking attitude and valuable attention to detailExcellent English speaking and listening skillsA current driver's licence and valid visa to work in AustraliaA minimum commitment of 4+ months is required, with preference given to applicants able to remain through the breeding and yearling preparation season.Working Holiday Visa holders are welcome to apply.
