Al Siraat College is a Foundation to Year 12 Australian school in the Islamic Tradition, located in Melbourne's northern growth corridor in Epping.
Established in **** with 82 students, the College has grown to over 1,600 students in ****.
Our aim is to use learning as a pathway to develop students of refined character.The Pastoral Coordinator plays an important role in supporting the growth, wellbeing and positive development of students within their assigned cohort.
Working closely with students, parents, Homegroup teachers and the Student Support, Wellbeing and Curriculum teams, the role develops and implements programs and strategies that promote a safe, supportive and positive school environment.Through guidance, mentorship and early intervention, the Pastoral Coordinator supports students to develop positive attitudes, behaviour and character in accordance with Islamic teachings and the College's values.
The role also supports the effective management of student behaviour and disciplinary matters in line with College policies and procedures, contributing to a positive school experience for all students.This position is available for immediate commencement.Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Work with teachers and staff to communicate and explicitly teach expectationsTimely investigation and follow up on behaviour concerns/incidents and undertake action as per protocols and behaviour policyCreate and implement student plans according to students needs ensuring child safety and wellbeing is prioritisedParent communication and meetings in relation to student behaviour/academics/wellbeing needsConduct restorative discussions with studentsRecommend strategies to teachers to assist with student needs with focus on student welfare and safetyMonitor wellbeing of students and follow up on concernsImplement programs and initiatives to promote a safe,



supportive and inspiring environment plan.Maintain records and complete documentation as required within a timely mannerAssist and attend camps and other student and school eventsWork closely with other departments to promote academic success and wellbeing for each student through individual intervention plansSupport the college vision and mission by supporting and integrating Islam into pastoral care and behaviour interventions promoting a respectful and secure environment for all students.Key Skills Required:Well developed written and verbal communication skillsDemonstrated ability to build positive relationships with a range of stakeholders including students, staff and parentsThe ability to exercise initiativeThe ability to work under pressure and within deadlinesPrevious experience working with youth in an educational settingComprehensive understanding of child development and child safety standardsAn understanding of pastoral/wellbeing practicesA passion and genuine interest to integrate Islam into behaviour and pastoral initiatives.Essential Qualifications and Experience:A qualification in Education, Youth Work, Community Services, Counselling, Psychology, Social Work, Student Wellbeing or a related field, or equivalent relevant experienceCurrent Working with Children Check (or VIT registration where applicable)Demonstrated experience working with children in an educational settingComprehensive understanding of child development and child safety standards.Al Siraat College is a child safe employer and is committed to the protection and welfare of children.
