Maxima's client, a well-known local Council are seeking an experienced Local Laws Officer for an assignment based out of Tewantin.
You will be a part of a rostered work pattern across any 5 out of 7 days which may include regular weekend and out-of-hours work with a casual hourly pay of $***** + super.This role with see you provide customer focused enforcement of Council's Local Laws and policies and relevant State legislation with an emphasis on information, education and self-regulation.Key Responsibilities:Investigate and resolve complaints, including the serving of notices to seek compliance with Council'sLocal Laws, State Acts and Regulations and other legislation relevant to the positionDeliver education programs to the community relative to a regulatory workplace, focusing oncommunity safety, awareness and responsible pet ownershipUnderstand and enforce according to Council's impound procedures in relation to Local Laws, StateActs and Regulations and other legislative requirementsMaintain and update records relevant to the position to ensure information and knowledge is currentand accurateAct as an ambassador for Council during interactions with the community and provide accurate andtimely information and advice regarding relevant local law mattersMake timely enquiries and gather evidence for the prosecution of offences against Council's LocalLaws, State Acts and Regulations and other legislation relevant to the position,



issue and serveinfringement notices and appear for Council as a witness in courtUndertake patrols of beaches, parks, reserves, roads and other Council controlled land for breachesof local laws and take action to resolve those breaches in accordance with Council policySkills, knowledge and experienced required:Demonstrated knowledge required to undertake complex investigations, relevant to a regulatory environmentSound knowledge, or the ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of Councils local laws, policies and procedures and other relevant State legislationThe physical ability to undertake local laws dutiesProven ability to work as an effective, positive team member in a high performing customer focused regulatory environmentProven ability to deliver accurate and timely customer service, exercising sound judgment, decisionmaking and initiativeWell-developed interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to effectively liaise with members of the public, community groups and businesses and build effective relationshipsSound time management, work prioritisation and organisational skills with the proven capacity to work with limited supervisionSound research, analysis and problem-solving skillsQualifications, training and licenses required:Current National Police Clearance or willing to obtainDiploma in Government (Investigation) or similar qualifications
