Being proficient in the assembly of electronic products, our Assembly Technician's form part of a highly skilled and knowledgeable team of Technicians and Engineers that deliver Advanced Navigation's industry leading products.ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIESOperating fibre Optic coil winding equipment and handling fibre optic materialsWinding fibre optical coils for high grade navigation devicesAssemble, calibrate and test electronic and optics assembliesPrepare and splice polarisation maintaining optical fibreUse adhesives to bond and seal productsWork closely with the Engineering R&D; team to develop new optical assembly processes and techniquesAssist with the development and documentation of processes and proceduresAssist with management of inventory and optical and electrical componentsPerform straightforward maintenance and service of optical assembly equipmentPack semi-finished goods for safe transport and process quality inspection of productsGrowth:Growing & developing with the Company as Advanced Navigation continues to evolve;Taking on additional duties & tasks, as directed, as the position evolves.Develop a solid operational understanding of all aspects within the Company:Immersing yourself into the team & wider organisation to develop an understanding of how each role & team all contribute to our strategic vision.Live by our values:Set quantifiable targets that demonstrate your commitment to our values.QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCEExperience with high value products in a precision assembly or manufacturing environment2+ years experience in optical assemblyAbility to read and work with mechanical drawings and work instructionsSufficient visual and mechanical dexterity for inspecting, handling, cleaning and splicing small optics and componentsGeneral computer skills - experience with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, processing software and general lab equipmentA focus on high quality, precision and attention to detailA willingness to learn the products in a speciality industryStrong communication skills within a multidisciplinary team environmentSelf motivation and a positive attitudeReliable and punctualStrong knowledge of WHS practicesAn electronic or optical qualification or similarExperience working with PM FibreProblem solving or forensic analysis skills relating to process quality assuranceKnowledge of laser safety and standardsExperience with high accuracy fusion splicers
