Wattaka Cafe's purpose is to offer the freshest local produce infused with unique Native Australian flavours, whilst providing meaningly employment for our supported employees.Wattaka Cafe is looking for a Cafe Chef/Cook to join our committed cafe team.
We are looking for someone who is experienced in the kitchen and possesses a genuine passion and drive for working in a small team environment.This role will be a part time position, reporting to the Cafe Chef/Manager.
Wattaka Cafe is currently open Monday-Friday 7:30am-2:00pmThis is not an identified position, but we strongly encourage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to apply.What you will be doing;Working with the team to provide a safe and supportive environment for our supported employeesMaintaining a clean and organised kitchen environmentPrepare a variety of hot and cold menu items to the highest standards of quality and visual appeal.Ensure all food preparation and cooking processes adhere to ensuring adherence to food safety and hygiene standardsWorking seamlessly with front of houseAssist with maintaining stock lists and ordering and receiving of productsRestocking and maintaining a clean and organised café environmentWorking as a team in the preparation of catering ordersWorking in a team environment and integrating with front of house staffAbout You;Proven experience in cooking/preparation of cafe meals is a mustGenuinely "passionate" about the hospitality space!

Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, kitchen operations, and food safety standardsExcellent time management and multitasking skills to work efficiently/effectively in a small team environmentAbility to work collaboratively as part of a teamPunctual with attendanceHas values that align with community & inclusionQualificationsFood Safety Supervisor Certificate or willingness to completeAbility to complete Working with Children Check, Police Check and NDIS Worker Screening Check, NDIS Worker Modules (or willing to obtain)Why work for Wattaka Cafe?
