Position: Chef Position Type : Full time Salary: $79,943 plus superannuation per annum Location: Chinchilla QLD **** Our client is seeking an experienced Chef to join their café located in Chinchilla, Queensland.
The Chef is responsible for preparing and presenting meals for the café's breakfast and lunch services.
The position also involves menu planning, food quality control, stock management and the supervision of junior kitchen staff.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: Plan menus and develop seasonal dishes and daily specials.
Prepare and cook meals in accordance with the café's recipes and service standards.
Check the quality, presentation, portion size and temperature of dishes.
Prepare suitable meals for customers with allergies and dietary requirements.
Estimate food requirements and order ingredients and kitchen supplies.
Inspect deliveries and monitor the quality and freshness of ingredients.
Manage stock rotation, portion control, food costs and wastage.
Coordinate food preparation and cooking activities during service.




Train and supervise cooks, kitchen hands and other junior kitchen staff.
Maintain a clean, safe and hygienic commercial kitchen.
Ensure compliance with food safety and workplace health and safety requirements.
Communicate with management and front-of-house staff regarding orders, service requirements and menu availability.
Requirements: AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma qualification At least three (3) years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualifications listed At least three (3) years of relevant experience working as a Chef in a commercial kitchen Prior experience preparing and cooking café-style meals, including breakfast, lunch and other café menu items Knowledge of food safety, hygiene, menu planning and stock control.
Ability to work effectively during busy service periods and supervise junior staff.
