Senior Bookkeeper / Assistant Finance Manager This isn't a role for someone who just wants to process transactions.
We're looking for someone who enjoys the detail of bookkeeping and accounting, but also wants to understand what the numbers are actually telling the business.
You'll initially take ownership across the day-to-day finance function for a group of related businesses, but we're deliberately looking a little further ahead with this appointment.
For the right person, there is the opportunity over the next 3–5 years to develop into a senior finance position within the business.
That means we're looking for someone who can do the work now, but has the capacity to grow.
The Role You'll be involved across a broad finance function including: Bookkeeping across multiple entities Accounts payable and receivable Payroll Bank and credit card reconciliations General ledger and journals Month-end processing BAS and associated reporting Cash flow monitoring Management reporting Reviewing accounts and investigating discrepancies Assisting with budgets and forecasting Working with external accountants and other professional advisers While there will still be plenty of hands-on work, we are looking for someone who can see variances, recognising when something doesn't look right and being able to explain why.
Where This Role Can Go This is the part that makes the opportunity a little different.
As you develop your understanding of the businesses, we want you to become increasingly involved in higher-level financial reporting and decision-making.
Over time, that could include: Preparing and presenting management information Discussing financial performance directly with senior management Providing commentary around budgets, margins,



cash flow and variances Improving financial systems and controls Helping management understand the financial implications of decisions Presenting financial information to the Board Communication Matters Technical capability is only part of what we're looking for.
You'll deal directly with managers, senior management and, at times, the Board.
We don't expect you to walk in on day one and start delivering Board presentations.
We do need someone who has the communication skills and confidence to eventually sit in that environment, discuss the numbers, answer questions and explain financial information.

Salary Package We're targeting $80,000–$90,000 + super, depending on experience and capability.
At some point, there will be an introduction to performance-based incentives as the person grows into the role and has greater influence over business outcomes.
This can turn into a role where you work one day a week from home, but typically, they are looking for someone to be in the Brisbane South office at least 4 days a week.
And there will also be some flexibility with the start and finish times in the long run.
