What you'll be doing
This position is based at the Joint Referral Unit (JRU) - the State-wide unit which triages all responsible child abuse reports for NSW.
The JRU Senior Health Clinician, alongside Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) and NSW Police, contributes to making complex decisions on the need for a Joint Child Protection Response Program (JCPRP) response and/or other local responses for serious child abuse reports referred by the NSW Child Protection Helpline.
Supports the JRU Health Manager by representing NSW Health on the JRU Management (Decision) Team.
This includes seeking, reviewing, analysing and sharing key information with Police and DCJ to inform the decisions and actions taken by the JRU.
Coordinates the JRU Health Clinicians to ensure timeliness and accuracy in the provision & distribution of information to health services across NSW to facilitate the health's assessment and treatment of abused and neglected children and young people.
Alongside the Health Manager, providing timely, high-level advice, analysis and resolution to strategic,
policy and operational health issues to children and young people who have experienced sexual assault, physical abuse and neglect and their non-offending family members.
This position includes the provision of specialist clinical and policy advice on child protection in NSW to the Ministry and the specialist PARVAN networks across NSW Health as well as to the Tri-Agency partnership of DCJ and Police across NSW.
This requires constant interagency collaboration and as well as liaison with violence, abuse and neglect related services across NSW Health.
