Mechanical Design Engineer | Special Purpose Machinery Location: Western Sydney Office / Factory BasedAn opportunity has opened for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join an established Australian-owned engineering business specialising in bespoke machinery and automation solutions.
This is not an off-the-shelf engineering setting.
Projects are customised around individual customer requirements, giving you the opportunity to solve technical challenges and take designs from initial concept through to manufacture, testing and delivery.
With a strong pipeline of upcoming projects, the business is looking for someone who enjoys being hands-on, working collaboratively and seeing their designs come to life on the factory floor.
The Role Reporting directly to the General Manager, you'll work as part of an experienced engineering team and collaborate closely with manufacturing, assembly, electrical, suppliers and customers.Your responsibilities will include:Developing customised mechanical concepts and solutionsTaking projects from concept and detailed design through manufacture, testing and deliveryProducing mechanical designs using SolidWorksWorking with pneumatic and motion control devices and systemsCollaborating with mechanical, automation and electrical engineersWorking closely with manufacturing and assembly teamsLiaising with suppliers to select appropriate hardware and componentsWorking with customers to understand requirements and develop practical solutionsManaging multiple projects,



priorities and deadlines simultaneouslyMaintaining accurate engineering and project documentationIdentifying practical and creative solutions to engineering challengesThis is a hands-on position where you'll have exposure to the full project lifecycle rather than sitting purely within a design function.What We're Looking ForQualified Mechanical Engineer or Mechatronics EngineerExperience within special purpose machinery, automation, packaging equipment or a similar environmentStrong SolidWorks experienceExperience with PDM Vault would be advantageousUnderstanding of pneumatic and motion control systemsExperience working with suppliers and cross-functional engineering teamsAbility to manage multiple projects simultaneouslyStrong time management and organisational skillsExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsComfortable working within a hands-on engineering and manufacturing environmentSelf-motivated with a practical engineering mindset Someone looking for a long-term opportunity and wanting to become part of an established teamWhy Consider It?
