This is a fantastic opportunity for enthusiastic and professional Pharmacy Technicians to join our Clinical Services team servicing the public and private Mater Hospitals.
There are opportunities in both permanent and fixed-term positions working in either a full-time or part-time capacity.
We welcome those with previous hospital or community pharmacy experience as well as others with limited experience as on-the-job training will be provided to support your transition into hospital pharmacy.
Mater Health Services, South-East Queensland comprises a unique collection of two public and four private hospitals at South Brisbane, Springfield and Redland caring for over 500,000 patients each year.
This includes Mater Mothers' Hospitals, Queensland's largest maternity service with more than 10,000 births annually.
Mater Pharmacy services all inpatient and outpatient areas, so this represents a fantastic opportunity to make a positive contribution to the health and wellbeing of this community and to contribute to a solid, unified, inter-professional Clinical Services team at Mater.
Salary range: $***** - $***** per hour (Operational Officer Level 2-3) plus superannuationandaccess to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900+access to many staff benefits!
What you'll be doing
You will work in a team with pharmacists, technicians, pharmacy students and other support staff to deliver safe, effective, and high-quality of pharmacy service to optimise outcomes for all patients and customers of Mater.
In this role, you will be responsible for delivering a consistently high level of pharmacy service to all clinical areas, which will include:
Dispensary duties:
Assembling and delivering dispensed medicationsCold chain management of refrigerated and frozen medicationsCustomer service and taking payments for discharging patients collecting medicationsAssisting to monitor and maintain appropriate stock levels in the pharmacyAnswering phone calls from both internal and external customers and patientsSupport pharmacy team with operational and administrative tasksProviding responsive customer-focused service
Imprest Service:




Scheduled restocking of imprest medication to expected levels in a variety of clinical and procedural areas across all our hospitals on a rotational basisEfficiently and accurately delivering medications required for patient care by receiving, picking, delivering and putting away stock in a timely and accurate mannerManagement of expiry dates, stock rotation and product availabilityHandling packages up to 12kgProviding responsive customer-focused serviceTraining fellow team members in all aspects of the imprest roleContributing to review of stock holding and schedules, checking expiry and auditing.
Other rotational roles in this team include:
PBS claim preparation and pharmacy billingDispensing for chemotherapy, assembling pre-meds, oral drugs and prescription management for Cancer Care areasDispensing, scheduled supply and prescription management for outpatient services including the Mater Infusion Centre and Hospital in the Home
This role is primarily based at South Brisbane with the opportunity to also work at Mater Springfield or Redland from time to time.

About you
To be considered for this role you must have:
A professional attitude, effective communication skills and a high level of attention to detailPassion for customer service and appreciation of the importance of delivering exceptional service every timeProfessional, hardworking attitude and willing to work cooperatively and effectively with all team membersCompleted or be willing to undertake relevant qualifications such as Certificate II or III in Hospital/Community Pharmacy (or equivalent)
