Experienced Bookkeeper - Multi-Site Retail BusinessRobinsons Bookshop is looking for an experienced, commercially minded Bookkeeper to join our team and take ownership of the day-to-day financial administration of our growing multi-site retail business.This is not simply a data-entry role.We are looking for someone who is experienced, organised and financially street-smart - the kind of person who can look at a transaction, reconciliation or report and instinctively recognise when something doesn't quite make sense.You will be working closely with management across our bookstore operations and will play an important role in maintaining accurate, timely and reliable financial information.The RoleThis is a permanent part-time position working approximately 20 hours per week, across five days - approximately four hours per day.Your responsibilities will include:Daily and weekly bookkeeping across a multi-site retail businessBank and credit card reconciliationsAccounts payable and supplier reconciliationsReviewing supplier invoices, credits and payment allocationsMaintaining accurate records within XeroInvestigating discrepancies and resolving reconciliation issuesPreparing and maintaining financial and management spreadsheetsWorking extensively with Microsoft ExcelAssisting with cash-flow and working-capital reportingSupporting month-end accounting processesMaintaining clean, accurate and well-organised financial recordsLiaising with store managers, suppliers and management where information needs to be clarifiedIdentifying errors,



unusual transactions or process weaknesses rather than simply processing what is put in front of youHelping us continually improve our bookkeeping and financial administration systemsWhat We're Looking ForWe are particularly interested in someone who has spent several years actually doing bookkeeping in a real operating business and understands that things don't always arrive neatly packaged.You will ideally be:An experienced Bookkeeper with strong practical accounting knowledgeHighly competent using XeroVery strong in Microsoft ExcelComfortable working with formulas, reconciliations, data sets and financial schedulesExceptionally accurate and organisedComfortable investigating transactions until the numbers reconcileAble to recognise when something looks wrong and confident enough to ask questionsCommercially minded and able to understand the story behind the numbersAble to prioritise your workload without requiring constant supervisionReliable, accountable and comfortable taking ownership of your workConfident communicating with managers, suppliers and other team membersSomeone who enjoys improving systems rather than simply accepting inefficient processesExperience within retail, inventory-based businesses or multi-location businesses would be highly regarded.Excel Skills MatterExcel is an important part of this position.We are looking for someone who is genuinely comfortable working in spreadsheets rather than someone who simply lists Excel on their résumé.
