An established Newcastle accounting firm is looking to add an experienced Intermediate Accountant to its growing team.

The role
n
Working closely with Senior Accountants and Managers, you'll manage a portfolio of client work and progressively take on greater responsibility.
n
Your responsibilities will include:
n
n
n
Preparing financial statements for companies, trusts, partnerships and sole traders
n
n
Preparing and lodging income tax returns, BAS, IAS and FBT returns
n
n
Assisting with Division 7A, CGT and FBT calculations
n
n
Managing client files from start to finish
n
n
Maintaining accurate records and meeting compliance deadlines
n
n




Liaising with the ATO and other regulatory bodies when required
n
n
Responding to client queries via phone and email
n
n
Developing your confidence in direct client communication and advisory work
n
n
You'll have access to experienced senior team members who are available to provide guidance and support as you develop your technical skills and take on more responsibility.
About you
n
We're looking for someone with:
n
n
n
2–3+ years' experience in an Australian accounting practice
n
n
A tertiary qualification in Accounting, Commerce or a related discipline
n
n
Experience preparing tax returns and financial statements
n
n
Exposure to companies, trusts, partnerships and sole traders
n
n
Understanding of Division 7A, CGT and FBT
n
n
Experience with Xero and/or MYOB
n
n
CA or CPA completed, underway or an interest in commencing
n
n
Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
n
n
A collaborative approach and willingness to learn
n
n
Motivation to continue developing and progressing within public practice
n
