Job Description
Payroll Officer/Finance Officer n
Freighter Group is looking for a detail-oriented and organised Payroll & Finance Officer to join our finance team.
n
This is a hands-on hybrid role that combines responsibility for the accurate and timely processing of payroll with the day-to-day finance operations. We're looking for someone who enjoys working across all areas, takes pride in getting the details right, and can manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
About the Role n
Reporting to the Payroll Supervisor, you will play an important role in ensuring our employees are paid accurately and on time, while also maintaining efficient and accurate finance processes.
Payroll n
n
Process
fortnightly/monthly
payroll accurately and on time.
n
Maintain employee payroll records and ensure changes are correctly processed.
n
Manage new starters, terminations, leave, allowances, deductions and other payroll adjustments.
n
Ensure payroll is processed in accordance with relevant legislation, awards and company policies.
n
Process superannuation and payroll-related payments and reconciliations.
n
Prepare payroll reports and assist with payroll-related queries from employees and managers.
n
Assist with year-end payroll processes, including income statements and STP requirements.
n
Maintain confidentiality of employee and payroll information.
n

Maintain accurate records.

Data entry

Support the wider finance team with general accounting and administrative tasks as required.

About You n
You will be a reliable and detail-focused finance professional who enjoys working across finance.
n
Ideally, you will have:
n
n
Previous experience in payroll, or a similar finance role.
n
Experience processing payroll from start to finish.
n
Robust attention to detail and accuracy.
n
Positive understanding of payroll processes, compliance and statutory requirements.
n
Strong organisational and time-management skills.
n
The ability to manage deadlines and competing priorities.
n
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
n
A high level of discretion when dealing with confidential information.
n
Strong Excel skills and confidence working with accounting/payroll systems.
n
A proactive approach and willingness to take ownership of your responsibilities.
n
n
Experience in the transport, logistics or freight industry will be highly regarded, but is not essential.
