About the opportunity n
Northern Grampians Shire Council is looking for enthusiastic and dedicated Swim Teachers to join our team at the Stawell Sports & Aquatic Centre.
n
As a Swim Teacher, you'll play an important role in helping participants develop their swimming skills, water confidence and safety knowledge through engaging and supportive lessons.
About the role n
What you'll be doing:
n
n
Plan, prepare and safely deliver swimming lessons to the Swim and Survive standard.
n
Develop lesson plans using a variety of teaching methods and styles to support different learning needs.
n
Assess participant readiness, progress and skill development, and provide appropriate feedback and reporting.
n
Create a positive, encouraging and inclusive learning environment.
n
Support and supervise AUSTSWIM or equivalent training candidates and probationary employees participating in classes.
n
Provide professional and friendly customer service to participants, parents, carers and other stakeholders.
n
Promote positive water safety behaviours and help participants build confidence in the water.
n
Attend mandatory staff meetings as required.
n
Undertake other duties within your skills, competence and training.
n

Qualifications & experience n
To be successful in this role, you will have:
n
n
Current AUSTSWIM Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety qualification, or equivalent.
n
Current AUSTSWIM Teacher of Infant and Preschool qualification, or equivalent (desirable).
n
Current Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) recognised resuscitation certification.
n
Current Level 2 (Senior) First Aid certification.
n
Knowledge of AUSTSWIM industry guidelines.
n
Knowledge of swimming lesson philosophy and teaching guidelines.
n
The ability to adapt lessons to meet the learning needs and skill levels of individual participants.
