AXIS is currently seeking an experienced Fitter / Machinist to join our team.
n
About the Role
n
We're after a capable, hands-on tradesperson with strong machining skills who takes pride in producing quality work. The successful applicant will be confident operating both CNC and manual lathes, with CNC programming experience considered a strong advantage.
n
This is a wide-ranging, hands-on role involving fitting and machining work, including:
n
Setting up and operating CNC lathes
n
Manual machining using lathes, mills and other workshop machinery
n
Fitting, assembly and repair of mechanical components
n
Reading and interpreting engineering drawings
n
Working accurately to drawings,



dimensions and tolerances
n
Using precision measuring equipment to inspect finished components
n
Fault finding and problem solving
n
Maintaining a high standard of workmanship and safety
n
About You
n
Essential skills and experience:
n
Trade qualification as a Fitter & Turner / Fitter Machinist or equivalent
n
Experience setting up and operating CNC lathes
n
Strong manual lathe machining skills
n
Ability to confidently read and interpret engineering drawings
n
Good understanding of machining tolerances and precision measuring equipment
n
Strong mechanical aptitude and practical problem-solving skills
n
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
n
Reliable with a strong work ethic
n
Commitment to quality and workplace safety
n
Current Driver's License
n
Current National Police Check or willingness to obtain one
n
Desirable skills and experience:
n
Ability to program CNC lathes
n
Experience with manual milling machines
n
Broader CNC machining experience
n
Experience with fitting, assembly and mechanical repair work
n
