Steelcorp is seeking an experienced and commercially minded Finance Manager to join our team at our Wangaratta headquarters.
n
This is a hands-on role supporting the Head of Finance and overseeing the day-to-day finance function across Steelcorp and its related businesses. You will lead our Bookkeeper, strengthen financial reporting and controls, and help operational teams better understand project and business performance.
n
The position also includes responsibility for client progress claims and trade subcontractor administration. It would therefore suit someone with experience in construction, manufacturing or another project-based environment.

We are particularly open to hearing from robust senior
bookkeepers/accountants
who can own the finance desk and manage our existing processing resource. Perhaps your looking to return to the workforce or move back into a meaningful local role. Flexible working arrangements may be considered for the right candidate; however, the position will be primarily based at our Wangaratta headquarters.

About the role
n
Reporting to the Head of Finance, you will take ownership of the day-to-day finance function across Steelcorp and its related businesses.
n
You'll be responsible for:
n
Day-to-day finance, month-end and management reporting
n
Cash flow, budgeting and forecasting
n
Project financials including claims, WIP, variations and retentions
n
Oversight of AP, AR, payroll and statutory requirements
n




Managing our existing finance processing resource
n
About you
n
We're looking for someone who understands construction finance, enjoys being hands-on and can confidently own the finance function.
n
You will ideally bring:
n
Five or more years' experience in accounting, finance management or a senior finance position
n
Strong experience with month-end reporting, budgeting, cash flow, accounts payable and accounts receivable
n
Sound knowledge of Australian GST, BAS, payroll, superannuation and financial compliance requirements
n
Experience supervising, mentoring or developing finance team members
n
Strong Microsoft Excel and accounting-system skills
n
Excellent attention to detail and the ability to meet important deadlines
n
The confidence to communicate financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders
n
A practical, commercially focused and solutions-oriented approach
n
Experience in construction, manufacturing or a project-based business will be highly regarded, particularly if you have worked with:
n
Project accounting, job costing, work in progress and margin reporting
n
Construction progress claims,



variations and retentions
n
Trade subcontractor agreements and payment claims
n
A degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related discipline is desired but not essential.
