About the Role n
An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced
Manual Machinist
with strong experience in
gear cutting, gear grinding, and shaping machinery
. This position will see you working within a busy engineering workshop manufacturing and repairing precision components to exact specifications.
Key Responsibilities n
n
Operating gear cutting, gear grinding, and shaping machines.
n
Operating manual lathes, milling machines, slotting machines, and other conventional machining equipment.
n
Manufacturing precision components from steel, bronze, nylon, and other materials.
n
Setting up machinery, selecting tooling, and adjusting machine parameters.
n
Interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and job instructions.
n
Measuring and inspecting components to ensure compliance with tight tolerances.
n
Using precision measuring instruments and calibration equipment.
n
Operating overhead cranes to load and unload materials and components.
n
Maintaining a safe, organised, and productive work workplace.
n
Hours n
Monday to Thursday:
7:30am - 4:00pm
Friday:
7:00am - 1:00pm
n
Overtime available based on workload requirements.




Essential Requirements n
n
Proven experience operating gear cutting, gear grinding, and shaping machines.
n
Recent experience in a heavy industrial or engineering workshop environment.
n
Strong manual machining background, including manual lathes and milling machines.
n
Experience with manual slotting and shaping machines.
n
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical schematics.
n
Sound knowledge of machine setup, tooling selection, speeds, feeds, and machining processes.
n
Experience producing precision components to tight tolerances.
n
Proficiency in the use of micrometers, verniers, bore gauges, and other precision measuring equipment.
n
High attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
n
Strong safety focus and ability to work effectively within a team.
n
Current National Police Check or willingness to obtain one.
n
Highly Regarded n
n
Cylindrical grinding and bore grinding experience.
n
CNC machining experience.
n
Overhead crane licence and experience.
n
