About this prospect n
This position supports the delivery of contemporary work health and safety (WHS) practices across Council, while ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and other requirements within the local government context. The position incumbent works in partnership with operational Directorates to facilitate a supportive and safe environment for employees, contractors, visitors and other stakeholders.

The position is based in Beaudesert, but you may be required to work from any of Council's offices (Boonah and Tamborine Mountain) or facilities within the Scenic Rim.
Additionally, you'll also ... n
n
Maintain a current understanding of relevant WHS and Workers Compensation legislation and regulations and, under the guidance of the Coordinator Work Health and Safety, provide advice to Managers and employees to assist them in meeting their respective WHS and Injury Management responsibilities.
n
Coordinate rehabilitation and return to work case management for workers' compensation and non-work-related injuries and illnesses, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and the requirements of Council's WHS insurer.

Support the identification and management of psychosocial hazards and assist in the delivery of psychosocial safety initiatives, providing advice and resources to Managers and employees to promote a psychologically safe workplace.

Coordinate the implementation and ongoing maintenance of a positive mental health awareness program and have overall responsibility for Councils annual Health and Wellbeing calendar.
n
Provide support to the WHS Team and wider workforce, to complete incident investigations as required including support in developing appropriate corrective actions and shared learnings.

About you... n
n
Tertiary qualifications in Work Health and Safety and/or related fields well regarded.
n
Rehabilitation and Return to Work Coordinator (RRTWC) accreditation.
n
Demonstrated experience providing WHS and Injury Management services in a local government or similar complex work environment.
n
Mental Health First Aid trained is well regarded.
n
Demonstrated success in driving a strong culture of safety through partnering and working in collaboration with key stakeholders.
n
Demonstrated ability to prioritise activities and manage workflows within a high-volume work environment.
