Plastics Technician, PE Extrusion and Corrugation
Plascorp is one of Australia's leading privately owned manufacturers and distributors of industrial ducting, mine ventilation, PVC and PE pipe and steel reinforcing solutions. As part of a significant investment in our Australian manufacturing capability, we are commissioning a new PE corrugated pipe manufacturing line at our Altona North facility.
We are seeking technically capable Plastics Technicians to become part of the core team responsible for operating, developing and optimising this new manufacturing capability. This is a technically focused manufacturing role. We are looking for people with strong mechanical and technical aptitude who can develop a detailed understanding of the extrusion and corrugation process, take ownership of product quality and machine performance, and diagnose and resolve production issues.
The role provides a structured technical development pathway, with progression based on training, demonstrated competency and technical capability.
Key Responsibilities
Set up, operate and optimise PE extrusion and corrugation equipment
Monitor and adjust process parameters to maintain stable production and product quality
Complete tooling, product and size changes
Diagnose process, mechanical and product quality issues
Undertake machine setup and production changeovers
Monitor raw material usage and manage material inputs to the extrusion process
Conduct quality testing to relevant Australian Standards and site requirements
Identify opportunities to improve output, quality, scrap performance and machine utilisation
Complete production, quality and process records
Conduct pre-start, process and safety inspections
Operate overhead gantry cranes and forklifts as required
Work closely with Maintenance, Quality and Production teams to resolve technical issues
Maintain high standards of safety,

Skills and Experience
We are looking for people with strong technical capability and a genuine interest in understanding and improving manufacturing processes.
Ideally, you will have
Experience in plastics extrusion, polymer processing or a similar continuous manufacturing workplace
Strong mechanical aptitude and demonstrated troubleshooting capability
Experience setting up and adjusting complex production machinery
An understanding of process control and the relationship between machine settings, materials and finished product quality
Experience completing tooling or product changeovers
A Certificate III in Engineering, Mechanical Trade, Polymer Processing or equivalent qualification will be highly regarded
Current forklift licence or willingness to obtain one
Strong numeracy and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and make sound decisions when production issues arise
A strong commitment to safety, quality and equipment care
